 New engine oils increase gas mileage and offer better engine protection Automakers are searching for every way to improve fuel economy in today’s vehicles, and newly developed engine oil may be the easiest and fastest way to squeeze more miles from each gallon. The American Petroleum Institute just announced a new lubricant rating “GF-5” that includes better gas mileage, greater resistance to engine sludge, longer time between oil-changes, increased heat resistance and reduced friction.
